Rachel Ooi: My turn! =)

WOW. Suddenly there's a whole flurry of activity here!! No one can say we 5s1-ers aren't efficient people man!!

And hmmm.... I'm supposed to update about myself. Well, basically, *grins sheepishly*, I've been... around... for the last 6 months or so. Most of you whom I've kept in touch with already know most of it, but let's just refresh for those who don't alright?

June- Rachel finishes A-level at Taylor's.
July- Rachel goes on mission trip to Cambodia. Rachel volunteers at Kiwanis Down Syndrome Home.
August- Rachel goes to work as a temporary full-time telemarketer selling personal accident insurance(Those who don't know what's that, ask me. Heck, ask me about insurance! If my company did do their job properly, and I my homework, I have quite a bit of insurance knowledge in my head =D )
late September- Rachel stops work to study for SAT and to apply UCAS. (For those who're going to ask why didn't I apply the year before- long, complicated story.)
October- Rachel sits for SAT1. And she can't remember what she did for the rest of that month=)
November- Rachel can't remember anything productive she did for the month, except study for SAT2 (Do remember that it's almost 5 months since she did any real studying and that she has a very very short term memory). She recalls a myriad of movies, yumcha sessions, singing k sessions and blogging =)
December- Rachel slaves through US applications and essays, attends church camp and visits the whole of North-East China.
January- Rachel goes back to volunteering at Kiwanis as a quarter-time volunteer (that's what u call someone who volunteers less than what a part-timer would right?).

The future- foggy and uncertain. But Rachel will definitely be a medical student at the Monash Malaysia campus for the February semester. After that? My guess is as good as yours. =)

I don't think anyone posted up the December reunion photo here, so I shall do the honours =D

If you can't recognise some of the people, you know you're in DEEP trouble and should seek emergency treatment at this blog immediately. What treatment? Ask Flo =P

I'm done! OH yES, one last thing- see my name on your right? All it takes is one click. And you'll be on your way to my blog! One of the few wonders of technology I actually love... besides my handphone, msn, freely accessible Happy Tree Friends and other stuff I'm too lazy to mention. Maybe I don't love them enough...

Ah yes the only reason I did this tag in the first place- I TAG:
1) crap can't think of anyone- Timothy (if the busy man finds time to visit this site)
2) Li Hong (at least I'm certain he visits)
3) Sue Lynn ( no idea whether she visits or not)
4) Yin Shean ( She might visit )
5) Wai Lam ( I think he visits)
6) Sue Bee ( I have no idea)
7) Xin Ni (Likewise)
8) I know I'm cheating =)

YES I'm really done. Happy posting!!

MISS YOU ALL!!!!
GOD BLESS YOU!!

With love,
Rachel Ooi

P.S. There yi ning... a long, long post, just the way you like it.

The 5S1 '05 Revival Tag - Caleb Passing The Baton

Me ar? Well, to find out more about me visit my blog . Why would you want to do so you ask? Well, because it's Visit cnxc323 '08. So pop along my blog to read about what I usually eat in the jolly ol' boring city of Southampton.

Well, if you don't want to read my blog even after that Visit adverts we are so exposed to, I can give you a summary: Basically what you can find in my blog is a gazillion photos of pasta as I eat that like, well, alot. Yea, sick of eating my own pasta already as nice as they taste. Muahaha.

So anyway, yesterday was my last paper for my semester one exam. Was horrid. But oh well, Hope I did good enough. For those of you not in the know, I'm doing Electronics Engineering in the University of Southampton. Why am I here? Well, coz it's THE best school for electronics, outside the US and I am just lazy to apply to the US. So there. I'm here. It takes about 1.5 hours to get to Southampton by train here and trains here costs two bombs or £22 to be exact, AFTER discount. Yea... I shan't be taking the train no more, I'll take the bus more often.

Haven't seen no snow yet since I got here. GLOBAL WARMING. Bah. Thanks to everyone and their wasteful habits I don't get no snow HERE in the YOO KAY. So yea. Stop being wasteful everyone. Global warming WILL destroy us all! Recycle, turn off lights if you don't need them, turn your aircond down to 23 degrees celcius and walk instead of drive.

Ok, now that I've got my ESC rant out of the way, I tag Xing Ji, Xing Ji, Xing Ji, Shaun, Sui Yuan, Si YI and heck, whoever name isn't here, you'll have to do it anyway. So please do. I tag 5S1.

P.S. I tag Yingxu also. And Elaine and Darell. But their presence on this blog is just.. non-existant.

Spreading the word

To all those who have ever wanted to do something against the speeding buses of malaysia...
http://jayelleenelial.com/?p=551

I've been tagged.

Well.

Where do I start?

You guys know I'm in Prague, yeah?

Yeah I'm probably the only CHS-ian studying in Prague, come to think of it.

I should feel so privileged. Hehe...

Yeah, so far, it's been a blessing... I'm learning a lot - about growing, about taking charge of your life, and currently I'm learning discipline and how not to depend so much on other people, though I like to sometimes.

Maybe this abroad thingymajigo experience is helping me with growing up and shaping me into someone... Growing up definitely. I bought my first lipstick today if you want a good example. :-P (I usually borrow my mom's.) And in other aspects too... there is this sense of freedom that if not properly controlled can rule your life. For example, I think I might have been going out too often and not sticking to my books when I should. Which has to change from today onwards... if I want to get home by this summer.

And the people I meet... It's amazing... well, besides a huge Malaysian group, I have met people from all over... from NZ right to Tanzania right to Slovakia right to China right to America right to Ukraine, etc. etc. Prague is like a melting pot of races. Especially in the city where the foreigners are many.. In the smaller towns, we rarely find foreigners, though. It's just amazing... and most of them I met at church.. I'm attending an International church which pretty much feels like home. And I've found a good group of friends whom I am able to blend with. :-) Thank God.

School is okay, too. I've got some pretty cool lecturers, and their English put some of ours to shame, I'd say. I wish I could speak Chinese as well as they can speak English. But oh well... that reminds me, I've really got to have some sort of coaching when I get back. I seriously HAVE TO LEARN MANDARIN. I know, I know... what with you guys speaking English half the time, I didn't learn much. XD

But I love you guys all the same. :-)

Otherwise... yeah. That's pretty much it for now, at least. I miss high school. I just came back from a choir by a congregation of more than 10 high schools from all over the world which blew me off my feet... I'll post the link on my blog sometime soon and you guys can go check youtube. And they did it all in 3 days, can you believe it. It really made me miss school and the chances that I had to be involved in the singing community.

Righto. Have fun y'all. And take care. I'll see you around. :-)

Lotsaluv,
Flo.

P.S. To those dears who have been keeping this blog alive... what would I do without you guys. *hugs*

Revive 5s1 blog tag!

Alrite, this blog is DYING (if it's not already 99.9999% dead. wait, that still constitutes as dying. alrite) and we dun wanna see it 1200% dead do we? (like, um, what's with our facebook group??)

to think there were 50 of us people in 5s1, yet only less then half that number of blogposts. or those with a blogger account here, for that matter. sad :(

(those without blogger account, or have no idea how to blog here, leave your email address in a comment, will ya?)

So let's start a tag here. let's call it... The Revive 5s1 Blog Tag!

THE RULE: whoever who posted here after being tag, get to tag 3 people! And the tagged/tagee have to post here.

update people on what has been going on in your life, how you doing, k? i'm sure most of you started uni. or will soon. lots of thing to say, right right??

and don't even try to sneak out of your tag by posting some random words you string together half drunk/asleep/awake or just some random funny youtube video you found. think of it as a sort of open letter, if that helps. and pics! pics are goooood.

understand?

capisce?

oh, how about tagging a non blogger. get them addicted to the blogging bug!! yay!

oh and if someone was tagged, but never post, feel free to retag them again and again if you have to and bug them until they do ya? ^^

let the fun begin! i tag Flo, Rachel Ooi and Caleb!
(ha.. serve you people rite for trying to tag me in the chatbox in the 1st place :p)

Randomness

Well, I went back to CHS today for KRS' orientation and OMG, there was alot of people in school and on a Saturday morning. Maybe I hadn't been to school for a long time, or maybe it was the first activity Saturday for the month or maybe just, well I miss school.

Anyway, I saw Xin Ni and she was there to collect her SPM cert (it really is kinda late, but who haven't collect you better do before it turns into some rough paper to be used by people like Li Hong who don't give a damn where they do their workings), and then since I just remembered about the 1119 cert, I too followed her to the office.

Mr Tham (remember him ?) was the only teacher there and at first, he asked us to come back during office hours which were 9-5 on weekdays. But maybe it was Xin Ni's undeniable charm that persuaded him to rammage through the drawers to search for the certs. He asked which year and she said 2005, which made him look shocked for awhile.

Anyway, I too collected my 1119 cert and was surprised to see we were the first 2 people to collect the certs. Its nice by the way, better than the SPM cert. So for those who haven't collected them, collect your 1119 cert !!!

So ya, that was basically it. I realise CHS during the day and on the nights I go back to play basketball is very different. I was just there last night and it was all so quiet, as compared to this morning....

Anyway, don't forget CHS, do visit some time soon. And collect your cert.

Cheers

5S1 Gathering

I know most of you aren't in Malaysia but recently most of the S'pore people are back. So this is mainly a gathering to meet up with them. Can you guys help to organise ? I've already discussed with Yin Shean so just contact her.

Any help will be welcomed and please make it happen. Thanks. Call Li Hong too, he's free.

Dear Fellow 5S1ers,

Well, if possible, DON'T blog. If you can't stick to that then, well make sure you blog about stuff like, chocolates or teddy bears. Make sure you don't write anything at all about important people. And NEVER EVER JOKE ON YOUR BLOG. Seriously. Coz like it or not, Big Brother reads your blog too. And Big Brother takes everything you write seriously. Make your blog as dull and dead as possible so that no one even wants to read it. But then again, this blog is rather dull and dead and people still come and visit. So yea. Don't blog. If you do blog, make sure you blog like a professional, you know, references, evidences of who said what or proof of the fact that you've just stated. If you haven't any evidence to back up your statement, don't blog it. The gist of what I'm trying to say is: You have no freedom of blog. So don't.

Tis' the middle of Alevels.... lalala

I think I am officially lazy and screwed up... not that you guys didn't know it before...just that now it's official...it lends an extra weight of importance to it (just a smidgen, mind)... So I'm in the middle of my A-levels... really...smack dab...like equal amounts of papers sitting before and after me...and what do I do? Watch Stardust at 10pm on a weekday....wtf... mind you, 2 of my other friends were just as crazy as me (nearly missed the last bus back...but oh is the movie great)... The only difference is that post-stardust, they've started studying again...while I am...blogging...reading blogs... and watching horrible youtube renditions by one steven lim of Singapore Idol (In)fame... the purpose of this post? Just another attempt at escapism to postpone my reading of econs... And the worst part.... I'm not even worried... Gosh I'm sick! (Ironically, I'm worried about not being worried...like meta-meta worry)....ahh...lunch time...another morning wasted... *pop*

Pn Tan Lin's Retirement

I so happen to be at CHS today so I shot some photos. Check out Mr Kean on a big bike! And the Ex-PIBG Chairman rented two sports cars as Pn Tan Lin's retirement car.. Cool!

ADAKAH INI JAWAPAN MUKTAMAD ANDA?

5S1 reunion 2007

Saturday, 1st Sept 2007 - night (say start around 7-ish?)
Potbless Dinner @ Timothy's house

(directions will be given later after everything's 100% confirmed)

We're having POTBLESS. Means EVERYONE has to bring SOMETHING so that we can ALL have ENOUGH food to eat.

To make sure no one brings the same food, we're probably gonna delegate instead of going on a voluntary basis. So do confirm your attendance quick so that we can plan everything efficiently and quickly!!!

Confirm with me by the following means:
Flo

or anywhere visible on this blog.

(SOK KENG! YEN TINK! ANYONE EXPERIENCED IN LOGISTICS! Can help me with the estimation? I'm scared I underestimate or overestimate the amount of food and drinks... Haven't organised big-scale meals in a long time!)

Last but not least, thank you all for your kind responses so far. I've gotten responses from almost everybody (with the exception of these people):

YinShean, CherHui, KaiJun, Patrick, KiaSheng.

Weiiii... Friends out there! Make sure your fellow 5S1-ers know, man. Our goal is to make this event a success, remember?

Sooooooooo,

Together, let's make this a success!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Monday, August 20, 2007

It's time to reunite!

Heya, people!

So everyone who's leaving will be leaving soon.
So everyone's gonna miss everybody.

...So we gotta meet up.

5S1 reunion 2007

Suggestions so far:

Dates available:

C) Saturday, 1st Sept 2007 - noon / night
D) Sunday, 2nd Sept 2007 - noon / night

(We'll plan around these dates first. If most can't make it, we'll push it towards September. But hopefully everyone can make it lah. Otherwise reunion tak syok wei!!!)

Ideas of venue & agenda:

A) Potbless @ your house???
We promise to prepare & clean up & take out the trash at the end of the day! We also promise not to kill each other within your premises. Promise!
(Further suggestion was that we play boardgames / cards)

If your parents allow us to use your house, pls contact Flo (0162480088).

B) Picnic @ some park???
(Further suggestion was the Lake Gardens.)

C) Mid Valley -.-;;
(This is just a back-up plan... A lot of people are a bit sick & tired of the same old, same old...)

D) Ice-skating @ Sunway Pyramid

E) Just meet up at CHS & go for Chicken Rice.

Yep. Leave comments here to make your choices, or scream out your views in the chatterbox beside, or send me a msg.

Together, let's make this a success!!!

Okay, that sounded corny. But really la. It's really tough to cook up a reunion unless people reply.

So...

Together, let's make this a success!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

P.S. When are you Singaporean fellas coming back? And when is everyone flying off? If we know more details we can maximise attendance & the faces we get to meet again.

============================

LOOK OUT FOR UPDATES ON THIS EVENT HERE!

1) Everyone okay with the 2nd Sept? If we're doing potbless, most likely it'll be in the evening.

2) People who have not responded yet...

RachaelTeh, CheaMing, WernChiet, KianWah, ShuHaur, ChunWei, Caleb.

3) People I have no idea how to reach... those who have them on MSN (I've not been online for a very long time) or their phone numbers, please please please help to pass them the message... I'd sms everyone and do the follow up, but it's really expensive for me to do it alone!

HuaChu, YinShean, SueBee, WenChee, WinJean, SueLynn, ThngHuei, CherHui, BinYun, LiSian, XinNi, Jordan, WeiHao, MeiWen, KaiJun, PatrickChia, WengSoon, HoMeng, KiaSheng.

4) We're hoping to be able to use Yen Tink's old house. It'll be good cos there's a park nearby so if we wanna play games (Do we wanna play games? SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE?) we can use the park. My house is really much smaller than hers, supposing everyone turns up, we'd be banging into each other constantly, which is not really a good idea for those who are claustrophobic)

LATEST UPDATE: A million gazillion thanks to Tim who has allowed us to use his house, too! (Claustrophobics, you guys can stop holding your breath now.)

5) I need help! Especially if it's gonna be a potbless thing. Anyone free to help me (as in organizing)? Pretty please with cherries and marshmallows and gummy bears laden with cream and sugar and cinnamon on top? Please mail/sms/call me! I'll be eternally grateful.

6) Hope to see you guys there! Wherever it happens! Lol...

Should we move to Facebook???

Hey, guys... I'm wondering whether we should shift our "class blog" to a "class network/page" on www.facebook.com

Not sure how many people still come here, but as long as I get 5 yes-es, I'll just veto this suggestion. :-P

It'll be easier to get updates on how we're all doing on Facebook. If blogs are 2-D, Facebook is like, 6-D or something. Friendster is a measly 3-D.

(Am I not making sense here?)

Oh, yeah... and it'll be LOTS easier to maintain. I bet those who have Facebook log into their Facebooks a thousand times more often than popping by this site.

So, yeah. 5 yes-es, and we'll shift.

Have a nice day.

Let us know you're still alive and kicking somewhere on this planet. Or somewhere else.

Oh, and if possible what extra-terrestrial organisms you're cooking for dinner, and which universe you're going to invade next week.

Feel free to follow this format:

One Year After SPM

Can't believe its actually one year after SPM..

Today my friend and I were feeling bored so we browsed through our friendster's friends' photos.. and he showed me pictures of his friends which he said has "turned bad".

This got me thinking..
What did i turn into in this 1 year in Singapore?
Have i changed??
well..i honestly dun know..if u ask me i would say that i haven changed...maybe junior colleges in Singapore ins't conducive to change..because we still pretty much operate in the "school atmosphere" though i certainly learnt a thing of two in my one year in Singapore..

To me, a lot of ppl haven changed a bit since last year...
like Yen Tink...haha especially Yen Tink...I thought after a year in Taylors maybe she would have a boyfriend...lol..Win Jean, Chun Wei, Zhen Yuan...
haha all haven changed...

And a lot of ppl have changed too..
like Wei Kean..
haha..he seriously suddenly become very different from wat i know..lol

Well..so here is my question to everyone..
who do u think have changed a lot in this 1 year??
pls post!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I'm back!!!

Hey, guys... I'm finally back after being away for so long. :D

...and it seems pretty quiet over here.

Anyway, I wanted to write out this incident for sometime now:

Well, see, early this year we had to do the food test experiment for Bio. The most interesting food test was the iodine test for lipids. We were supposed to drop, specifically stated in the question, 15 drops (3 by 5) of iodine solution onto a white tile. Well, whaddayouknow... we practically filled the whole surface of the tile with about 30 drops, so much that a little jerk would cause all of the drops to combine to form a puddle of yellowish aqueous goo in the middle of the tile.

Right. Next we mixed the enzymes and substrates together, started the stopwatch and here we go... testing the mixture for ... *something*.

"Eh, is this blue colour, arr?"
"I think this is blue la... I see my tile got black spots."
"Apasal tak dapat ni?"
"Man! I don't have enough iodine drops! Ish... Have to restart all over again."
"Haaah... How come yours took 5 minutes only? Mine already pass 15 minutes, still no result!"

And the phrase of the day was...

"You mean we're supposed to do it until it remains yellow? No wonder I never got blue colour!!!"

:P

__________________________________________

I'm so happy AS is over... but only to be reminded that A2 is here to stay for 6 months. I wonder if I'll have time for anything besides studying after my hols. (Oh, I'll be here until Sun next week. Loveaduck.)

You know what's scary? How everything's flying past me so fast I'm left breathless without having a chance to recuperate before another gust of time blows me away to another zone. I just met my neighbours 2 days before.

I couldn't recognise my neighbour's youngest sister. All the once-midgets along my row of houses have turned into young ladies and men overnight.

That made me think a little: I wonder - over this period of a year leaving school - how much have I changed? How much have you guys changed? When we meet up years from now, would we still be able to engage in conversation and understand each other without hedges growing in between - not because we failed to keep in touch, but because we don't have anything in common left behind for us to build back our once-strong friendships on?

When I left my primary school, I kept looking back fondly at memories shared with friends: friends who scrawled FRIENDS FOREVER on my autograph book, friends who I grew up and shared secrets with, friends I didn't want to lose, but constantly called and wrote to, so as to maintain the comradeship. I thought that primary school would be this era stucked forever in my memory, something I would never be able to replace or run away from.

But now, 7 years ago seems so distant. Meaningful and precious, but still a mere collection of memories. Of all the primary friends I've been acquainted with, I still keep in touch with only a few. The others have just... disappeared. Maybe it is my fault that I didn't maintain contact with them. Maybe we just grew up. Maybe it's just the way things were meant to be.

Years have passed, and many of them have changed. It's this weird feeling - you know they're still them, but in a way, you no longer know them.

I think college has changed me. It has definitely (and drastically) altered my perception about life, and made me think harder. When you see me today, I'm not sure if I'll act like the same person you knew a year ago. I may be more sceptical, more rational (and we all know rationality leads to over-evaluation half the time), more mature. But then again, I might be more wary, not trusting anyone because I know how faulty the human being can be, more experienced on putting on a mask to hide all my thoughts beneath what people can decipher from the surface.

But then, you might have changed, too. Most of us (well, not me) might have different interests and priorities now *hint hint*. (And, believe me, relationship does change mindsets - either for better or worse. I should know.) Most of us may have physically changed and our tastes in fashion, music, lifestyle may heavily influence the way we think and act, when we're away from our turqoise pinafores and navy green trousers and rules and school bells.

Personally, I don't like the idea of growing up. Primarily because it means we have to face consequences to our actions. We are on our own now, no longer shielded by our parents (to a certain extent) or a knitted-community (school). We are individuals. We are adults. Makes me long for the old days where responsibility is measured by the homework we hand in.

Sometimes, I have this gnawing sadness within me - that one day we might not be able to come together as friends, but only as schoolmates... only as people with once-common background. Sometimes, I wonder if I'll remember and be remembered. Sometimes, I wonder if I'll ever see some of you guys again in this lifetime, or will we merely remain as people who shared a photograph and a classroom with.

They say distance makes a heart grow fonder. Until now, when I think of my days as a 5S1-er, tears fill my eyes, as I yearn for the memories I left behind and the joy I accumulated in the limited pages of my journal which snatch me back into reminiscence readily.

I hope we haven't changed... too much.

Missing you guys.

You probably don't wanna read this...

What's with sexual innuendo these days? A PSA campaign in the USA called "Women's Voices. Women's Votes" is getting female celebrities to tell people about "the first time they did it" to get apathetic voters to the polling stations...Some say it's empowering, while others... In any case, I sat down to think about it but instead of coming up with a moral hypothesis on the whole issue, I got attacked by a disturbing bout of creativity...normally i wouldn't post something like this but an idle blog is the 21st century's devil's playground.

A NASTY SCRIPT

TAKE 1

The scene is a park...a beautiful park...green...with a non hazy azure sky hanging lazily above it...in walks boy and girl, who are in turn walking their dogs...

BOY: Hey, my dog kinda likes your dog...

GIRL: Aww...How sweet..

BOY: You know, Confucious he says, anything my dog likes is good enough for me.

GIRL: Are you saying you wanna hump my dog?

BOY: Hmmm...it is quite..(realises he is speaking his thoughts out aloud and glances hurriedly at girl)...er...NO...definitely NO!

GIRL: Stop petting my dog mister...

CUT

.......................................................................................................................................

TAKE 2

BOY: Hey, your dog kinda likes my dog...

GIRL: My dog's gay.

BOY: Well so is mine, except that he's also a transexual.

GIRL: You mean a gay dog trapped in a female's body?

BOY: It is rather complicated isn't it?

GIRL: Wow...that must be a real bitch...

BOY: You don't say....

(Both stare at their complicated dogs for awhile)

BOY: Say, you free this Saturday?

GIRL: Dinner and Movie?

BOY: 6 o' clock then and it's a deal....

GIRL: Deal...

BOY: Is your dog really gay?

GIRL: No.

BOY: Oh ****

THURSDAY:

First installed age of mythology...yaya old game but one of my favourites...bugged my mum to find the cd key for me..left the cover in msia...hunted very long and finally found the cover...then on the cover it says...type anything...swt...then sebastian comes and drags me to play pool...but we met two of his classmates there...pro poolers...so ended up learning a few tricks...but probably forgot ade...pool needs practice...played damn long tho....3 to 8...mhh

FRIDAY:

Went to sleep after my sec 2 roommate decided to wake up ...to go to school...u get the idea...then at 1018...rudely awaken by my handphone...damn...late for outing....everybody waiting for me in the office....so i tell them to go 1st...wil find them later...lucky got another fren oso wake up late...so we two go wait at bustop together...cos actually i dont really know how to get there...my sense of direction really sux la...and we waited for the bus like around 15 minutes...then as the bus is turning round the corner and we gonna board it...another fren of ours sms and said she still in the hostel...so we have to wait for her...damn hot somemore( as in the weather...what were u thinking?)...and i was falling asleep...cos i slept all of 3 hours...plus every day b4 that as well sleeping something like that...finally she comes out...and the bus comes on time...wa she damn lucky le...but unfortunately...she left her ezlink behind...and the bus uncle didn't believe she's a student...so have to lend her coins...lots of coins...

Reached kbox...everybody singing ade...and guess what...i fell asleep....haha...

Suddenly i remembered my mum telling me never to put my face on pillows or sofas in public cos ppl sit on them and sometimes they fart....so i woke up in a hurry....haha...sang a few songs....horsed around a bit...pillow fight! Then went shopping...one funny part...one of my frens...a guy...just loves anything with shiny stuff on it...such as swarovski crystals...so there was a mannequin outside a shop with a heck of alot of shiny bling blings...that's what he calls em... all over the shirt and he runs forward happily...shouts bling bling and plants his hands on the shirt...only thing was...he was grabbing the mannequin's boobs...he didn't notice it at the time...but i bet alot of others did...haha...looked really perv...

Milky justice

Ever been robbed? well how bout 3 times in a row....welcome to my life

OK...this may not seem serious to some but my hostel is now host to a (insert favourite expletive here) milk thief(s)(is this grammatically acceptable?ah heck)..

The story goes something like this....I usually buy milk in twin packs...so when i'm drinking one halfway, the other unopened one just mysteriously disappears... *poof* from the fridge. It's like David Copperfield just got pasteurised. so I get pretty upset..You would too if ur milk gets stolen...so on saturday...when i bought my milk again...i decide to open both at the same time...in the small hope that if the thief sees that both are open...he'll leave them alone....

On sunday, i go open the fridge...guess what i see...both cartons opened, with one of them lying on its side, so that its contents had spilled all over the fridge, turning into yogurt. It's at times like this that you wished that you had learnt more languages...so that you can swear in them all. Not only were these bastards thieves...they were also spiteful slobs who spilled milk all over the communal fridge.

Then yesterday...my friend saw two people holding a carton of fruit juice getting into the lift...fruit juice which looked suspiciously like his...He goes to the fridge and check...true enough...all three packs of his juices were missing...we later found the other two in the dustbin outside the pantry..apparently they just finished it there and then...maybe they needed the fibre bad...so now we know the identity of our thieves....and are faced with a dilemma....my fren reported the matter to the hostel...but he doubts that any action will be taken because

a. he didn't write his name on the cartons
b. the boarders are non scholars, ie self funded singaporeans

meanwhile...we decided to think of a way to get those thieves to embrace lactose intolerance and came up with this idea....we buy another packet of milk...or juice....stuff it with laxatives..and put it in the fridge again....only thing is...we're not sure if it's really a good idea...if the thieves get hurt real bad... we might get into trouble...and then there's such a thing called karma as well...

So here's the dilemma...should we just wait for the hostel to investigate, should we expose them ourselves, or should we give them one helluva bowel experience?

(YX suggests that we shit them first, then expose them later, but i'll like to hear what the rest of u guys have to say about this)

Shu Haur's Farewell Party

For those of you who made it to his house to bid Shu Haur a farewell, here are the memories immortalized in photos.

For those of you who didn't bother to attend, here are the photos for you to regret not going. Bwahaha...

Shu Haur gave us a great show that day. Excellent host too! Enjoy yourself in Wales my friend.

http://cnxc323.multiply.com/photos/

P.S. Sorry it took so long. There ARE only 565 photos to upload...
P.P.S. Quality of the photos are crap. (coz I used the wrong settings... photographer's worst nightmare) However, what I lost in quality I hope i gained in quantity. Bleh.

Hello, people :)

How's everyone doing? Hope everything's fine.

Haha... My mid sem ended 2 weeks ago, but I doubt I'll get my results before the next exam, which is in less than 3 weeks. (PRE AS!!! *SCREAMS*!!!) Hopefully I get all As though, I'm not sure what I'll get for Chem and Phys.

Too much to do, too little time. Ironic. I had too much time before college started. And now I don't have time at all!

Okay, since I'm trying to minimise talking about how strenous studying is over here... Let me tell you more about my college.

SMELL

Why is it that perpetually everywhere I go, I tend to have to face weird smells? The computer lab smells musty, a part of the walkway smells pungent (seriously... it epitomises the word 'sengit'... worse than chloroform), from my room I smell haze on some evenings, the chem lab smells of sulphur half the time... thank goodness for homeostasis. XD

SOUNDS

There are a LOT of nocturnal sounds in my college late at night... The lizards cluck so loudly they give me sudden frights in the night. And there's the infamous Screaming In The Middle of the Night. Sometimes, there's Daniel Beddingfield, too. And the gush of the waterfall exercising physics laws at ungodly hours (the pressure is directly proportional to height one): there's no pipe for water flow, it just cascades down and hits the cement ground on the floor of my apartment (see: Principle of Conservation of Energy).

MERDEKA

Our country's Independence Night celebration saw me seated on the balcony of my classmate's apartment, munching burgers, eating Oreos, and watching the little celebration in front of the main block of my college. It made me miss CHS's brilliant dramas. I still remember Hitler from 2 years back! But I realised this was the first time ever I was celebrating something that is supposed to bear so much meaning 49 years ago. However, what flummoxed me was why the Pengarah of my college and the Pegawai Daerah Sepang was so un-intune with the Merdeka theme. Their speeches were loaded with praises of KTT. :P Presentations were simple, mostly done by the Diploma students. But yeah, they were okay. There was this funny dance... 1 guy surrounded by 6 girls. Very funny! Then nearing the chime of 12, the lecturers all went up the make-shift stage and did the countdown. Then it drizzled. :)

Why's everyone rushing to get attached all of a sudden after high school? Seems like a trend. XD

Take care, everyone.

Whr is everyone ??#@$@!$

Is dis blog so dat ? Is it bcos everyone is so busy wif their work ? Is it bcos Florence is no more here to keep things flowing ?

Man, sumone better do sumthg, n i tink it's me !! LOL.

Ok so i jus gt back my results n it was ok. But lecturers were disappointed wo, duno y. Anyway......... here is the story i wana share.

Last Friday, i went to Redbox wif my frens n was wondering, is karaoke-ing a gd thing ?

Lik Li Hong said on his blog, we consider DotA-ing a bad thing. But he compared it to basketball n stuff too. So mayb after all it's jus how u see it.

But lik partying n clubbing, karaoke-ing is a fast way to lose money, which gives it a negative impression.

But, young adults our age nid to hang out n spend a little money, get high abit, do stuff out of the norm n jus LET GO !

Link dis wif clubbing.... wat makes it so different from karaoke-ing ? Can u ppl giv sum views on dat ?

Oh ya speaking of partying, i had a great party 2weekends back. Can read abt it at my blog. And man, Li Hong i still am loved by college gals. My MSN pic is testament to dat.

Cheers

I'm sure most of you dunno when is Singapore's National Day..the answer is....(drum rolls..)obviously today la..9th of August..
and this day is really significant to everyone including non-singaporeans like me!!
because it is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!
wow..wat can be better than holidays man..well maybe a lot of things can be better than hols...like kenaing lottery..having 36 hours a day..driving ur own car, having a new iPod, having a new BMW S series...having even more holidays..
but still nothing beats seeing friends in M'sia again!!

hmm..
do u know that very little Singaporeans know when is Malaysia's National Day?
yet most of them know 4th of July..
Haih..
America.
can't even keep their birthday as a secret to other country...
but few ppl actually know America's age
no wonder countries are called SHE..women always hide their age but not their birthday..
vanity in work??
perhaps..

My Dream Car

I think this blog currently has an overarching theme of "Sui Yuan"ness in it.

Not that it's bad, but I think it's just a wee bit too weird to hear someone boasting about how all the girls in the vicinity love him and (hopefully not) her. That'd be just plain weird.

Anyway, in order to enliven things a bit, I decided to be a bit random. This is my dream car:

Lamborghini

It's so hot that it blazed..!

Lamborghini On Fire!

P.S. What I've posted above is not really my dream car. It's just one of those random thoughts that suddenly fly into your head. Besides, cars look better than Sui Yuan.

P.P.S. I was kidding. Really. Man, I feel so random! :D
And Sui Yuan, I was really, really kidding. :)

COLLEGE GALS LOVE SUI YUAN!!???

quote from sui yuan(comment no.20, title "Hmm...Points to Ponder")
"college gals luv me"

hah..how u know college gals luv u..have u conducted a survey, done a research? Or izzit based on your own observation? Unlike the one made by rachel, this time..observation alone is plainly inadequate unless it is done by third party..if it is done by sui yuan then there will be will be a certain kind of bias..the super confident personality which dwells in sui yuan's overly active unconscious mind which sui yuan have no control over-just like there is a mr. Hyde in everyone one of us will surface and affect the observations. Thus i suggest that an independent panel comprising of students from different colleges be set up to anaylse this problem-whether college gal luves sui yuan. Of course the member of the independent panel cannot be handpicked by suiyuan. Instead it should be selected by an independent party. I suggest that a teacher or mentor from sunway college can be used for that purpose. And by the way..the panel shouldn't have college gals too!!

So, what can the independent panel do?

1) Firstly, they have to set definition for everything. Define college. Define girls. Define love. Define Sui Yuan
2) Do a survey of gals that sui yuan knows and ask them if they luv sui yuan. In the survey, there must also be a definition of love. And also definition of Sui Yuan.
3) Analyse the survey results. If more than 2/3 of the gals say they luv sui yuan. Well then his statement is somewhat proven. If not..then it is his overly active mind at work here.

And why would the independent panel be bothered to do any research at all? Certainly incentives must be given..
well..sui yuan can offer them free coaching on how to charm college gals...that certainly would be moe than sufficient payment for all the hard work that is done.

:) had a nice time reading?
good!! coz i had a nice time typing..CHEERS!

Hmm..points to ponder

10 reasons why taylors have lots of couples
1) ppl dun have to wear uniform, school starts comparatively later thus ppl have time to make themselves look better.
2) peer pressure: ppl see other ppl got, they also wan..so basically if alot of ppl break up then with my theory u will see many other ppl break up together also..haha
3) Hollywood's fault
4) still Hollywood's fault
5) Taylor's is damn small..no basketball court no field..the boys end up flirting during their free time
6) What do u expect..u think Taylor's is Catholic High School meh!!
7) Taylorians have alot of free time..except for the case of maybe Rachel who does all her assignments..
8) Rachel is seeing everything in a different light as she has uh..SH..AU..ermm..NN so she is trying to show that she is just normal.
9) Rachel is lying.
10)How would Rachel know?? You can't conclude anything by mere observation!! U need statistics, surveys, polling, votes!!! Rachel, can u obtain them and show it to the world?
If u can't, case is dropped.

haha..i should really be studying man..scored C for econs and E for general paper( english ) E!!!...wat the hell!! how can anyone get an E for their English Paper!! Florence!! Xing Ji!! Rachel!! Shaun!! lets exchange brains!! oh i forgot i dun wanna exchange brains with florence..dun wanna wash my own clothes..Maybe not Shaun too..i'll still be taking the same paper in another jc anyway so its redundant...same goes for Xing Ji..i'll have to take his KI..that leaves Rachel!!
argh but i dun wan Shaun!! shit.
guess that leaves me..

haha
hopefully everyone had a good laugh reading this post..i sure did =)
p.s Rachel the whole post is just jibberish..no truth in it unless u choose to believe..as i said in my blog..there ain't no truth..So basically X Files is telling a lie..but if there is no truth, then there will be no lie too..but then..how can there be no truth.."I'M NOW TYPING" this statement is the truth right...haha..maybe not..coz by the time u read this..i'm not actually typing anymore..haha..i can hear "WATEVER" around me already..
tats all for this month!!!
take care everyone!!

study till you drop

That's typically what I do in college these days. (Nothing else to do, really. That, and the heavyweight responsibility I have to live up to as a scholar.) Yup, it's only the 2nd week into studies... approaching the 3rd week soon. 3 months to AS... struggling to finish notes / fight for food among approximately 500 other KTT dudes and dudettes / get what SEEMS like adequate sleep (well, somewhat... 4 hours in the night, then add another 1/2 in the afternoon... *glassy-eyed zombie takes her place in the classroom and winces at grammatical errors or protests what lecturer says every now and then*)

Come to think of it... if we had people like XingJi, Tim, Li Hong, Chun Wei, etc. over here, we won't be able to budge from chapter to chapter like what we've finally managed to commence on doing at the present. (The lecturer would be too busy rectifying him/herself and getting confused at the refutations and bizarre questions piped up at every other second.)

Or, they could just throw their weight around and do it their way:

REAL INCIDENT DURING CHEM CLASS

Classmate: Sir, why is it that some atoms in certain molecules don't have to reach the octet structure?

Lecturer: Oh... well... you don't have to know that. It's not in the syllabus.

lalala~

Oh, and I realised that I couldn't live without some things @ college:

1. Insect spray

VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!! Apparently I've been dubbed as an expert killer of cockroaches. The other 3 of my roommates are either frightened / can't care less about the roaches roaming the floors we step on each day. My current record is 2 a week. :P Oh, this object has to be paired up with a good pair of bathroom slippers. (Jungle roaches are very strong. You have to stomp at each *at least* thrice to end its life.)

2. Plastic bags

I reuse plastic bags over and over again to keep stuff, carry stuff, throw stuff into. I can't imagine life without plastic. Too handy.

3. Sticky tape

Thank God for the inventor of cellotape / masking tape, etc... I don't know what I'll do without them... Glue dries up really slow and you can't staple everything you want to stick together.

4. Memo papers

I have half a dozen in irregular sequence pasted all over on the wall where my study desk is situated.

And last but not least...

5. CLOTHES PEGS

VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! ESPECIALLY ON WINDY DAYS!!! I have witnessed a fallen shirt, a fallen pair of shorts on my balcony, a FALLING shirt, a fallen piece of apparel you wouldn't feel very comfortable having to knock on the door of your neighbour's downstairs to collect back for (and I and my other roommate thought it was really one of my roommate's. XD Awkward situation, that. But extremely educational, though. I never quite viewed pegs as an object that would save much embarrassment.)

Sigh. Still miss the old days of school, though. College is just so stale in comparison.

Have a great week ahead, you guys. :)

While I will... subjugate myself to the title above, heh. :P

Stupid Crazy Years...by the crap king

Been like ages since last posted but thought i would pop in with one while waiting for spain vs france...

Speaking bout the good old days....who will ever forget zhen yuan being tied onto a chair and brought up all the way to the highest floor of Block E....i will definitely bring those memories to the grave and i daresay i still remember almost every detail....hehe....a million thanks to those involved in making the act a success!!!! HAHAHA!!!!

And remember our kai bao pitstop....where we pulled people in randomly....held them down.....kai bao them and touched up with marker pens ....hahaha....(currently laughing stupidly in front of the com) ....

There are still many many more stuff that can be mentioned...all the jokes...all the crap...(can't really remember mine though....too crappy perhaps)....kinda regretting not having some sort of diary de....anyway....will continue to post them when they cross my mind....

Charades - we had killer charades games back in 4/5S1. I'll never forget Shu Haur's rendition of "constipation". XD

All the cheeky things we did in the classroom, labs, etc.

The editorial board. I miss the ed-board room so much. Even though it was often messier than a pigsty. *sniff*

Too many memories to be penned down. :)

Oh, and 3A1/4S1/5S1 humour! Oh, sarcasm! How we need you at KTT!!! (Everyone's super frank and simple here. There's no... entertainment in that.)

Missing everyone,

Those stupid crazy years...

To think it's been 6 months into 2006 already... for some of us, that means 6 months into college... while others have just started... there are some in between... but I'm not sure if there's anyone from our class who's not studying... Is there anyone? It'll be cool to know what they're up to... anything's cooler than mugging for your mid years while on "holiday"...no less during the world cup ( although that hasn't stopped me from watching till 5am....muahahaha...)

Sometimes though... while in the middle of a boring lecture or just stoning in my room... my thoughts wander off to those time I've had during sec school...everything seems funny now... even the cruel mindless punishments I've had at the hands of all those guru disiplin( i'm inclined to be biased against those puishments....)

Sometimes when I think of all the absurd things that have happened...such as the time we kai pow Loke Jin at the back of the class while Encik Hardev was teaching in front...Or Lihong's quotes of the day that were painstakingly compiled into the Book of Crap ( not sure who has it now)...and a whole lot of other seemingly day-to day funny happenings which were taken for granted then but seemed all the more precious now that we can't do them again...

How bout you guys... I'm sure you must have somthing to share with us about your time in CHS...cmon...if you dunno what to post...you can post this instead...some memorable moments in CHS...or even unmemorable ones...so that we can remember them again...it doesn't have to be a famous high point that everyone knows about...I'm not saying that it can't be ...it just doesn't have to be..yeah...it can just be something that happened one day that a few people know about which you think is cool or funny or sad or anything...heck...what am I typing...just post whatever you want...we'll read it all...

As for World Cup...I'll like to add my 2 cents worth....ya...2 cents...very cheap punya...anyways( I think I've finally found out where I learnt that word "anyways" from...yesterday I heard the song Stan by Eminem on Mtv and got one part he said anyways..and during form 1 i kept on reciting the lyrics everyday...but that's just me rambling again)....anyways...after I watched the match between Czech and Ghana...I'll have to say my new favourite team is Ghana man...most entertaining football match I've ever seen...My dearest World Cup hope is that Ghana will advance to the knockout stages and then continue to play like that and win the world cup...

Jus to spice up the blog...

Y isnt anyone posting anything ? Is dis blog dead ? Cmon we can disappoint Flo.

Ok since it is World Cup season, let me giv a brief update esp to the girls.

So far, it is stil in the Group Stage n the last round of matches is startin today.

Here r a few facts for u ppl to know so u wun make a fool of urself :

1. Ronaldo aint a gd player, he is lousy !! So dun ask if he is the best player...

2. France arent doin as gd as they supposed to b. And yes, Henry is in France.

3. England hav Rooney n no he hasnt scored yet. But he will play today against Sweden.

4. Japan hav lost n South Korea might make it to the 2nd round. So dun say Japan is better than S.Korea.

5. Spain n Argentina hav been the best teams so far, scoring 15 goals between them in 4 matches.

Anyway was real bored so jus posted some crap here. Oh ya, the World Cup is in Germany, and is held every 4 yrs. And it is the WORLD Cup, so dun ask if Arsenal or Real Madrid r in it.

Anyway gd luck in watchin n hope u dun make a fool out of urself. If u duno how to answer, jus keep ur mouth shut, u wud avoid ambarassment dat way.

Or u cud make an excuse n head for the toilet when someone asks u a World Cup question... den call me !! I'll def help u out. LOL

Cheers

Ahoj!

Hey, everyone! Tim says hello. I'm blogging on his behalf as he has forgotten to mention some stuff before he left.

Yup. He left to Negeri Sembilan this morning, to the matriculation college. However, he'll be back on weekends, so there will be quite a bit of travelling for him.

Oh, and he says that he'll update his site whenever he can do so - do check for updates.

That's all for now.

(How's everyone? Busy, busy, busy, eh. :P I have 3 weeks left of sheer enjoyment. Treasuring every blogging, on-lining, staring-at-the-ceiling, doing-nothing moments left. *grins*)

The anamolous autonomous robot and other such crap

Hello...Xing Ji's back with itchy fingers and a new blog entry

Right now I'm feeling all happy because there's one more week till the holidays and just two more weeks till i'll be back in Msia...woohoo....i've been skipping school pretty much the last week...so I don't really look forward to going back this week...should i ponteng the whole thing away?

Actually, it wasn't really my fault to skip almost the whole week of school...serious...(ya rite)...Ok la, on monday i went to JC t 11.35 am, because i was slightly sick and sleepy in the morning, and 3 periods of KI plus 2 periods of maths lectures concerning functions isn't a great way to wake you up....on Tuesday i woke up early wishing i could skip school again...be carful what you wish for...it might just come true....my hopes were fulfilled in the most painful manner ever...I knew I was sick...I just didn't know how bad...that morning...i learnt the meaning of pure unadulterated excruciating suffering...just as i was about to (grudgingly) get into my uniform, I keeled over from a sharp pain in the solar plexus region...TUMMYACHE!! I ran to the toilet and ARRRGH....sat that for eternity(it seemed like it) screaming...my roommate was horrified...but I asked him to leave anyway...diarrhoea i assure you, is not something to be trifled with...i could barely satnd after that and my face was white...I staggered back to my bed and collapsed exhausted....well, at least I didn't have to go to school now....for lessons at any rate...(later on at 3 i returned to work on my robot...my classmates all saw me playing with it at the koi pond, apparently fit and healthy and disbelieved my spectacular morning sickness story...they just thought i was plain lazy...which i probably am)

Wednesday...today was the photo shoot and the registration for the underwater robot competition( URC) ...we had a briefing in which the organisers told us that they had set aside 600 sing dollars for any team which was able to produce an autonomous robot...so long as the robot managed to get 10 pts....now..to tell you the truth, our remote controlled robot was crap...somehow..the thing kept on crashing when we pressed any buttons...so when we confirmed with the organisrs that we would be able to get 600 bucks even if we finsihed last...so long as it was autonomous...a devious plan started to formulate within our devious minds..

Since we had nothing to lose and everything to gain...we decided to hard code our robot to move in the general direction of the tank by timing how long it takes to run a particular diretion and then programming it to do so...based on timing...the competition rules stated that every time we banged the sides or surfaced or touched the bottom...5 pts would be deducted, with a cap of 20 for vertical and horizontal banging respectively...thus..our robot would effectively have lost 40 pts...each team starts with 40 pts and completing all the tasks(moving along an L-shaped tank..picking up a cargo and then returning the cargo to the starting line) would net you 60 pts...meaning total amount of pts one would be able to acquire is 100 pts...the way we worked our baby...we would be getting 60 pts...however... we would be able to grab 600 bucks...becasuse effectively...our robot was now autonomous...ie...does not require a remote control

Truth be told...a real autonomous robot requires sensors and stuff and complex programming...the programming we did for our so alled auto bot was far simpler than the code required even for the remote control bots...we simply had to on and off the corresponding motors for a certain amount of time each...unfortunately...this being an inaugural competition..the orgnisers were quite lax about their definition of an autonomous robot...thus we were able to compete becasue of this loophole...what we did may be criticized as unethical by some but most importantly...it was legal....and it netted us an extra 300 bucks on the competition date( another team built an autonomous bot as well...a real one...unfortunately ...theirs couldn't run properly but the money was still split as they managed to collect 10 pts...dang)

Our ahem...slightly unconventional method did lead to some embarrasing moments though..the competition was held at a underwater technology fair called Oceans with delegates from all over the world such as Japan, France and the US.. One Japanese delegate was most impressed with our autonomous robot and asked me how it was that the robot could sense the walls and stuff like that...eeps...i saw my friend standing nearby and muttered that HE was the one who did the programming so the Japanese shuffled off to hunt my friend down instead...the last I heard was him crapping that we had programmed the robot to do certain stuff under certain probabilities and more such bullshit...he then said we didn't use sensors to do the job...because the man was most interseted as to where our sensors were...I think the Japanese was more confused than anything...but the important thing was...he was actually impressed...!

Oddly enough, the other teams who tried to manouver their RC robot most carefully inadvertently bumped into the sides as well because the tank was very narrow(40 x40 x40)...because pts take precedence over timing...everyone was aiming for 100...but ended up being very slow instead...our robot which disregarded banging( we had decided to forego that part) managed to end up a respectable 4th because many teams ended up only getting 60 pts as well but our timing was far better than theirs....as an added bonus...we even got invited to a fancy gala dinner for the prize giving ceremony that was held more for the benefit of the delegates....nicest food i've had since coming to singapore...we tried to order wine but couldn't because we were in uniform so we had to settle for coke instead...

Right now...I'm trying to hunt for more David Eddings books...i finished the Tamuli trilogy over the last week while attending the competition...i guess i should become a library memebr but I'm cheap so i'll probably just sit there and read my way through...

Btw, here's an interesting article that opens up a whole lot of food for thought...makes you wonder how safe smartcards really are... http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.05/rfid.html?pg=1&topic=rfid&topic_set=
